Email lists are one of the most valuable
assets that any marketer or online business can possess.
It's therefore important that you not only continually
build your list, but more importantly, hold on to your
subscribers.
Dont Loose Subscribers by making the mistakes listed below:
1. Sending your subscribers too many emails.
This is one of the most common mistakes that online
marketers make. While it can be very tempting to send your
subscribers offer after offer in order to make more money,
you will also lose a lot of subscribers, so try not to send
more than one or two emails a week if you want to hold on to
your subscribers and make consistent long-term profits.
2. Don't Promote poor quality products.
Another way of losing subscribers quickly is by promoting
poor quality products. You should thoroughly examine a
product beforehand so you can give your honest review of the
product. In most cases you will find that a genuine
recommendation from you will generate far more profits than
hard-selling a product that you haven't even seen, as
subscribers will soon see through this.
3. Too many sales pitches, too little content.
The vast majority of subscribers do not sign up to a
newsletter just to be bombarded with sales pitches, so make
sure you cater to their needs by providing plenty of free
and valuable content as well. Answering questions from your
subscribers and providing good content will help to build up
a good relationship with your list which will result in
greater profits for you.
4. Unexciting emails.
In addition to the last point, it's important to keep your
email correspondence fresh. If you keep sending the same old
stuff week after week, subscribers will simply become bored
with what you have to offer and will unsubscribe from your
list. So it's a good idea to mix things up a bit and keep
thinking of new ideas to satisfy your list.
5. A lack the personal touch.
Most subscribers know that marketers just insert
'firstname' into a greeting or subject line in order to
personalize emails, but even so it's amazing how this can
increase your sales. Also by just talking briefly about
yourself occasionally, your subscribers will feel they know
you better, which will generally make them more inclined to
trust you and follow your recommendations.
6. Misleading subject lines.
It's important to remember that each of your emails will be
competing for attention in your recipients' inboxes.
Therefore it can be very tempting to use sensationalist and
misleading subject lines just to get your emails opened, but
unless they are relevant to the content of your email, your
subscribers will soon unsubscribe from your list so try and
avoid doing this. Be creative and test different headlines
to find the most compelling, but don't mislead your
subscribers.
7. Too much time between each email.
Whilst sending emails too often can see your unsubscribe
rate rocket, the opposite can also be true. If you leave it
too long between emails, subscribers can easily forget who
you are, which can even lead them into thinking you're a
spammer, so try not to leave many weeks or even months
between each email.
8. Going off-topic and becoming too broad.
Another mistake that marketers make is branching out and
covering wider subjects in their emails. Remember that
subscribers opted in to your list to learn more about a
specific subject, so don't start promoting products in a
wider niche as your subscribers will soon become
disinterested.
So, if you keep building your list and looking
after your subscribers by avoiding the mistakes above, you
can sustain a highly responsive and profitable list of
subscribers for many months and years to come.
